About Emma Thompson

Emma Thompson has studied voice for 14 years and piano for over a decade. She graduated from Susquehanna University with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education, and is soon to be pursuing a Masters of Music. Emma currently works within FCPS as the Urbana High School Choral Director where her ensembles receive superior ratings, and she also teaches music theory and group piano classes. Emma has performed in many choral groups, operas, and musicals and as an instructor has taught students from 6 months old to 70+  individually and in classroom settings.

Emma’s philosophy is that music is for everyone, and likes to approach teaching with styles and music that fit each student individually to accomplish their goals. Emma’s specialty is vocal pedagogy and teaching students to sing in a healthy, free and resonant way.

Outside of the studio Emma enjoys running and is a member of the Frederick Steeplechasers, and is a 4th term master of Ohara Japanese flower arranging which she teaches as an adjunct professor at Frederick Community College’s Life Long Learning Program.
