Phillips Wisor

Phillips Saylor Wisor is a seasoned performer and recording artist with over two decades in the folk, roots, and Americana music scene, and more than 15 years of teaching experience. Known for his masterful Clawhammer Banjo technique and original compositions, Phillips brings a deep well of knowledge in traditional North American banjo and vernacular music. His guitar playing blends Piedmont country-blues, psychedelic country, and old-time/bluegrass rhythms, while his mandolin work spans everything from campfire fiddle tunes to traditional Italian classical pieces. As an educator, Phillips emphasizes ear training, theory, sight-reading, and improvisation—empowering each student to discover and shape their unique musical voice.
