Derek Kretzer

Derek Kretzer is a multi-instrumentalist who studied jazz guitar performance at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He has since become proficient on the mandolin and banjo in both 3 finger and the old-time clawhammer style. Derek has been teaching a wide range of genres for close to 10 years both privately and in various music schools. He currently teaches guitar, banjo and mandolin. Derek has played in a number of bands over the past decade in the rock and folk genres touring the entire US and Europe. Derek currently plays music full time both as a solo performer and with his bluegrass band the Plate Scrapers.
